Unsecured Tarp Causes Death

Komo 1000 News reported today that the family of a man who was killed in Tacoma will be suing a California Trucking Company. The family believes that it was an unsecured tarp that caused a chain reaction of accidents, ultimately killing their son.

"I think it's kind of an unfortunate chain of events sparked by a truck driver who improperly secured his load, or didn't take time to put the tarp on correctly," Laraine Harmon said.

Christina added, "I know it wasn't intentional, but it certainly happened, and they need to take responsibility for it."

After analyzing the tarp, Harmon's family learned it came from the Osterkamp Trucking Company of Pomona, California. The lawsuit claims one of the company's truck driver is negligent for not securing the tarp to his truck. Calls to Osterkamp Trucking were not returned Monday evening.

The truck that lost the tarp was not involved in the accident and did not stop after it's tarp was lost.
