A Seattle police officer's patrol car collided with a bicyclist Wednesday morning and then rammed into a building. Both the bicyclist and the officer were injured.

The bicylist sustained a head laceration. The police car ended up half-way into a sandwich shop in the 5300 block of 1st Avenue South near S. Bennett Street. It took half an hour to remove the offier. His injuries are reportedly non-life threatening. Fortunately no one in the sandwich shop were hurt.

As one would expect, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

If the offer was operating his vehicle negligently, the bicyclist may well have a personal injury claim against the City of Seattle. As with any claim against a government entity, it will be necessary to file a "tort claim form" with the appropriate official.
